CPE-ASET is a project that brings together 8 Universities located in the North of England. The project works in collaboration with employers to provide demand led, flexible learning opportunities at Higher Education level.

The Centre offers professional development opportunities in applied science engineering and technology disciplines to employees with a residential postcode in the North West, North East and Yorkshire regions in the public or private sector in any sized company. The initiative is funded by Northern Way – a collaboration between the three northern Regional Development Agencies Yorkshire Forward, ONE North East and the NWDA.

David Sanderson, who leads on innovation for The Northern Way, said: “The Centre for Professional Excellence and the projects within it will lay the foundations for enhanced professional development services for science, engineering and technology in the North of England. Once established, the CPE will enhance the performance of professionals, leading to higher added value business activity, and contribute to closing the wealth gap with the rest of the UK.
“With this innovative work, we are demonstrating that the North can
sort out its own problems and grow its knowledge economy, thus strengthening
our case for further investment from the private and public sectors in the
future.”
The centre will provide a focal point for the development of professional training, research and knowledge transfer in applied science, engineering and technology.
