Regular events to showcase courses developed by the CPE are held throughout the North of England (details below). Three launch events focussing on different Applied Science, Engineering and Technology themes have been held to date and one further launch event will be held at the University of Central Lancashire during November 2007.
Chester University launched the Biomedical Science theme on Monday 26th March which was video streamed live from the Chester University website. The event included speakers from Huddersfield, Chester and Teesside Universities.
Huddersfield University launched the Forensic Science and Nanotechnology
themes on 29th March. A range of speakers from the Universities of Huddersfield
and Teesside provided insights into their work and the cutting edge research
into Forensic Science, Criminology and Nanotechnology.
The event was well attended by employers including Albion Chemicals, Cummins
Engines, West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue and the National Firearms Centre.
The launch of the Engineering Design and Manufacturing and Product development themes took place on July 4th at the Wynyard Rooms in Teesside. The launch was a collaborative event between Teesside, Liverpool, Hull and Huddersfield Universities and showcased some of the courses that are currently being developed by the CPE under the Engineering Design and Manufacturing themes including 3D Design of Piping and Plant, Metrology and Tribology, Design for Manufacture and Assembly and Design for Manufacture and Assembly. The event was very well attended by employers and employer organisations.
A showcase of several CPE courses will take place in December 2007.
The launch will be hosted by the Research and Knowledge Transfer Unit within
Central Lancashire University’s Faculty of Science and Technology.
A conference style programme is planned and will include presentations and
supporting workshops to encourage open dialogue between academics and represented
